The web series Saas Bahu Achaar Pvt. Ltd. stars Amruta Subhash in the leading role, focusing on the life of an ignorant, simple lady called Suman. Her life changes when her husband chooses to remarry after falling in love with another woman. Suman seeks divorce from her marriage and battles for child custody by working two jobs to creating income. The series is different from the stereotypical mother-in-law and daughter-in-law conflict.
Casting
Amruta Subhash as Suman playing the lead role, Yamini Das as the ex-sasuma, Anup Soni as Dilip aka Suman’s husband, Anjana Sukhani as Manisha aka Dilip’s second wife. Manu Bisht as Juhi played the daughter of Suman and Dilip, Nikhil Chawla played Rishu or son of Suman and Dilip, and Shreyansh Kaurav as Vivan, another son of this divorced couple.
From Amruta Subhash to Yamini Das, every cast member gave a standout performance and proved why the TVF series chose them. You will not have a moment's doubt that any actor is exaggerating, and their acting is sincere and unrefined.
Story
A middle-aged lady named Suman starts her own business by selling handmade achaar (pickle) to gain financial independence and regain custody of her kids from her ex-husband, Dilip. Will Suman be able to complete her challenging mission? Will she be succeeding in taking her children’s custody back?
Review
The program pays tribute to the ladies who are mocked for being illiterate, even though it was not by choice. Amruta's character shifts and learns about the world outside of marriage. Such a rewarding adventure it was. Of course, it takes her some time to come to terms with the turmoil her husband forces her into, but she battles valiantly and overcomes it.
One must give the creators credit for creating a universe where no one is glorified at the expense of making others the bad guys. Although there is a stepmother in the home, she is perfect. She recognizes that she has taken someone else's position but does it out of love and compassion. Although the moral climate surrounding her is strong, she has a far higher ideal for herself—such a beautiful thing to see.
Over the years, TVF has developed its trademark humor, which creates relatable tales. It is so relevant that every single property beneath the banner is either your story or your neighbor's. Using Saas Bahu Achaar Pvt. Ltd., the studio makes the politically charged decision to address the problematic dynamics of divorce and individuals losing love inside a deeply ingrained Indian family. This show's main success is that it explores a divorce aspect that neither movies nor daily soaps have ever attempted.
The script, dialogue, and story written by Swarndeep Biswas, Abhishek Srivastava, and Manan Madaan for Saas Bahu Achaar Pvt. Ltd does not box any narrative. It is a narrative about being free, having a choice, having guts, and, most significantly, about having to shoot someone. The writers shape this universe much like any other home- a father who works a routine job, a woman who stays at home and is illiterate, two children who are struggling with adolescence, and a caring grandma. The father in this situation has had a breakup and is now seeing another lady to whom he is married. The mother must now live alone and create her universe.
To me, the series justified each scene due to its fantastic casting. But there are a few drawbacks, such as why Suman chose to sell Achar and not other things, which are unclear. Also, there are a few scenes where we see long silent screenings that could have been cut short. But on the good side, the series showed a genuine friendship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. We see in the film how Yamini Das portrayed a strong character and supported Suman to become a successful salesperson. When in the beginning, she did not know how to trade cry and felt baffled on the bus, Yamini Das showed her how she should let out the trade wail.
The series also dismisses the villain role-play of the stepmothers. We will see how Anjana Sukhani supported the kids in their tough times. When the kids had to stay one year with their fathers, she accepted that without hesitation and let them stay with her. She even helped her stepdaughter with her fees.
Amruta Subhash is excellent, as always. She played Suman as convincingly as she possibly could. In many situations, she is clever and sensitive, yet Amruta always appears to manage things without a problem. One would fall in love with Amruta as an actress after seeing the performance, from her accent to facial expressions. She brought emotions and depression and made the character alive with her endeavor.
And once again, Aam ka achar played a priceless role in the series scenarios. As shown in one of the photographs from this episode, a taste of achaar may persuade a toddler to swiftly finish his plate of gobi paratha or flatbread stuffed with cauliflower. To put it simply, Achaar is the answer to every issue, but in Suman's life, it also represents relationships, passion, reclaiming her identity, and professional aspirations.
Rating
The TV series received 8.6 out of 10 in IMDB rating. I think it is pretty impressive to achieve such a rating just after the launch. The series is available for online streaming from 8th July 2022 on Zee5. It has six episodes and 25-42 minutes of real screening time for each.
Parting Note
The TV series inspires many women to take the plunge and go ahead. There is no age barrier to thriving and excelling in the fields you aspire to. As long as an individual is alive, they have the chance and right to start again. I think one should watch the series as it has lots of drama, emotions, and dialogues. So, watch the series, and one thing is sure you will not be disappointed.
