The fruit print trend surged once again in the modern era, around 1939 when Italian-fashion designer and Surrealist Elsa Schiaparelli designed a toque hat with bacchanal grapes. In 1953, Dior delivered a femmes-fleur-inspired tart topper embellished with cherries, strawberries, and blueberries.
Over the past decade, many designers have played around with the fruit fashion trend. Phoebe Philo’s Spring 2004 bananas at Chloe were not revolutionary, but refreshing.
