FDCI celebrates 15 years of India Couture Week (ICW)
With an official announcement on Facebook, FDCI announced that it was back with its annual physical event this July. "Join us on this embellished journey, as we open another chapter with design mavericks from all over the country," the post read.
The India Couture Week (ICW) is organized by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) in partnership with Lotus Make-Up and Archana Aggarwal Timeless Jewellery. The event anticipates 13 participating couturiers. The events will go on from 22nd July to 31st July, a 10-day grand extravaganza held at the Taj Palace, New Delhi.
Launched in 2008 in Mumbai, the idea behind ICW was to take pride in presenting India's craftsmanship, textile, and embroidery techniques from different corners of the country. Designers from various cities showcased their couture collections and represented textiles from their States.
The very first edition of the fashion gala included some of the most remarkable fashion designers in the country, including names like Anamika Khanna, Manav Gangwani, Ritu Kumar, Rohit Bal, Pallavi Jaikishan, Ashish Soni, Tarun Tahiliani, Varun Bahl, Suneet Varma, JJ Valaya, Manish Malhotra, and more.
The India Couture Week has unparalleled potential as a fashion platform in the country. Over the years, the platform helped launch many Indian-origin couturiers, most of whom have gone on to build their fashion empires internationally.
Recognizing ICW's 15th year, the FDCI celebrates 15 years of India Couture with the idea to present how couture has shaped Indian craftsmanship and gained international acclaim over the years.
This year, we are expecting debut designers who will be publicly displaying their couture collections for the first time. Each designer has a distinct definition of couture; for some, it is about bridal wear and occasion, and for others, it is about preserving the country's heritage of fine craftsmanship.
The line-up for India Couture Week 2022 looks intriguing for both womenswear and menswear with trailblazing designers. The designers who have confirmed their names on the roster include Siddhartha Tytler, Tarun Tahiliani, Rahul Mishra, Anamika Khanna, Amit Aggarwal, Anju Modi, Dolly J, JJ Valaya, Falguni Shane Peacock, Kunal Rawal, Rohit Gandhi X Rahul Khanna, and Varun Bahl.
Some of the designs for this year's ICW fashion gala are rumoured to incorporate intricate elements of Indian couture, with avant-garde collections featuring futuristic tech-based design infusions, heavy embellishments, feathers, sequins, and more. The participating fashion designers are going to go all out as they gear themselves for the 10-day long fashion event.
